Last year I decided to learn UX Design and enrolled in the UX Design course at General Assembly. During the course of the class I got the opportunity to freshen up on my UX skills and learn some new skills. We were given the choice to improve UX for current digital product or to be innovative. Being a periodically clumsy person I decided to tackle the following problem:
How might we help users stay on time while getting ready in the morning?
After doing some research I preliminary research I realized that I wasn't alone.
“When I get ready for work in the morning, I set the alarm on my phone to go off every 10 minutes to help with time management. I have no concept of time if I don’t.”
“When I have a limited amount of time to do something (e.g. getting ready for work), I have a kitchen timer that I have go off every 3 mins.”
“I turn on my music before hoping in the shower and keep a track of how many songs have passed, once I get to the third or fourth song I know its time for me to get out.”
Since people were already using their phones and their own music library to help them stay on time during the morning routine, I decided to design an app to to enable that behavior. I build the app by making sure users can keep a tab on I believe that by creating an app that uses music to track morning activities, I can help people manage their time effectively BEFORE they leave their homes.
